Abstract

As the current hegemonic administration dismantles education, and with a noxious emphasis on discrediting higher education and postulating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts as discriminatory, the resistance continues from within the academy. As Latina educadoras, we must uphold a “holistic understanding of education that challenges mainstream conceptions of knowledge, power, pedagogy, and epistemology” (Villenas et al., 2006, p. 6). In this work, cuatro profesoras share our testimonios as we embrace our intersectionalities including our linguistic, feminist, and racial identidades. Our testimonios illuminate the intersections of familia and professional life, and the ways we resist white dominant narratives in la academia, every day. Through them, we highlight cómo tejemos las trenzas del amor, lo profesional, y de hermandad.
