This study used growth mixture modeling to examine self-rated health (SRH) trajectories and their impact on life satisfaction among 397 Chinese university students transitioning from undergraduate to graduate studies. Two SRH trajectories were identified: “High-decreasing” and “High-stable.” The “High-decreasing” group experienced a gradual health decline and a corresponding drop in life satisfaction during later graduate years, while the “High-stable” group maintained both. Gender and mother’s education showed marginal effects on group classification. Findings suggest that deteriorating health during academic transitions may adversely affect life satisfaction, highlighting the need for proactive health management during this critical period.
