Abstract

Grounded in Lefebvre’s theory of the production of space, this study constructs a three-dimensional analytical framework comprising representations of space, spatial practice, and representational spaces to interrogate the interaction mechanisms between university physical libraries and student learning in the digital age.Research has found that even though the online ecosystem is very convenient, physical libraries still have a unique appeal for students' learning, and at the same time, students will shape this space according to their own needs. This study reveals the current spatial characteristics of physical libraries, students' actual spatial usage patterns and unique emotional experiences. They provide inspiration and reference for the design and renovation of university libraries in the future.
