This qualitative case study explores how K–12 principals practice culturally responsive care as a form of anti-carceral leadership. Drawing on culturally responsive school leadership (CRSL), anti-carceral theory, and an ethic of care, the study examines the practices of three principals resisting punitive school structures in predominantly Black and Brown communities. Data from interviews, observations, documents, and reflection journals reveal how care functions as political praxis, discipline is reframed as healing, and leadership becomes an act of resistance. Findings contribute a new framework, anti-carceral leadership, and call for school leaders to disrupt carceral logics with courage, compassion, and a commitment to culturally affirming, justice-centered schools.
