Abstract

This paper examines the relationship between the development of the digital economy and educational equity by using panel data from 31 provinces in China. The research results show that although the level of educational equity in China has shown a fluctuating upward trend, there are still persistent gaps among regions, urban and rural areas, and gender groups. Analysis shows that the digital economy has significantly reduced the Gini coefficient of education, mainly through two mechanisms: promoting the accumulation of human capital and reducing resource misallocation. Its impact varies depending on the urban and rural environment and local infrastructure conditions. The research found that its influence also has a spatial spillover effect.
