This paper examines the rise and urgency of a decolonial critical pedagogy grounded in decolonial Marxism—a framework that integrates the worldviews and knowledge systems of colonized peoples into Marxist theory and reimagines education as a path to liberation. Traditional Western Marxism,—the 20% of the world with dominant political and economic power—lacks the epistemic input of the other 80%, particularly those impacted by colonization and epistemicide (de Sousa Santos, 2010). To achieve global relevance and liberatory potential, Marxism must engage the lived struggles and resistance of colonized communities. Drawing on José Carlos Mariátegui, Enrique Dussel, and Boaventura de Sousa Santos, alongside movements like the Zapatistas, this study outlines an alternative, justice-oriented educational vision.
