Abstract

This study piloted a virtual, story-based AI learning module on middle and high school students’ AI self-efficacy, conceptual understanding, and math motivation. Grounded in the AI4K12 framework, the module engaged 80 students in revising and testing a sentiment analysis model while exploring core AI concepts such as representation, learning, and societal impact. Pre- and post-survey results showed significant gains in AI self-efficacy and math motivation , along with improved understanding of key AI ideas. The module’s virtual delivery enabled participation from a diverse student population, including those in under-resourced settings. Findings suggest that integrating AI into core subjects like math can broaden access to AI literacy.
