Abstract

STEM minoritized students (MS) continue to face systemic and racial inequities that negatively impact their academic experience. Often the focus is on what undergraduates can do to reduce these disparities–placing the burden on them to tackle these educational crises. Here, we explore the development of a practical resource guide aimed at empowering faculty to cultivate inclusive learning environments. Faculty participated in the Institute for Meaningful Engagement (TIME), a two-year professional development series aimed at addressing STEM MS degree completion disparities. The TIME Observational Resource Guide is the result of the series and classroom observation feedback. We explore the development of the guide as a practical tool to address the need for tangible actions that support inclusive excellence.
