Abstract

This study presents a bibliometric analysis of assessment research in higher education, based on 3,915 articles published between 1982 and 2025 in the Web of Science database. Using VOSviewer, performance analysis and science mapping techniques were applied to explore key trends, research clusters, and international collaborations. Results highlight a growing emphasis on feedback, peer and self-assessment, and digital assessment practices, particularly since 2018. Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States emerged as central contributors, with institutions such as Curtin University and the University of Hong Kong leading in impact. This study offers a comprehensive overview of the field's evolution and provides guidance for future research directions in student-centered assessment practices.
