Abstract

A multi-case study, this research project surfaces and centers the thinking and theorizing of pre-service social studies teachers on their thinking about teaching social studies through an Ethnic Studies lens in the American South. This research project introduced Ethnic Studies as an approach to teaching social studies for critical consciousness and social justice and asked participants to imagine what an Ethnic Studies Approach might look like in their future classrooms.
