We argue that dominant research standards, rooted in postpositive and Western traditions, marginalize the experiential knowledge and storytelling traditions of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) scholars. Emphasizing the significance of decolonizing research through storytelling, we advocate for the recognition of Indigenous approaches, particularly storytelling, as legitimate, rigorous forms of inquiry. In a climate of increasing political and cultural erasure, we reclaim and therefore unforget storytelling as a method of resistance, knowledge production, and community healing. Our work calls for educational research to authentically center BIPOC perspectives and oral traditions, urging the field to resist pressures that delegitimize diverse ways of knowing and being.
