The Development and Validation of a Formative Oral Reading Assessment for The Early Grades

Abstract

Development and foundational validation research of the Record of Decision Making (RODM), which is a formative assessment designed to measure students’ use of phonic elements, will be shared. Using IRT methods, we demonstrate that the RODM fits a single reading proficiency scale and follows an Overlapping Wave Theory of change in phonic element use.
