Abstract

In this proposal we discuss the development of a research-practice partnership between a regional public state university in Southern California and an early childhood education center with a focus on staff development and learning. The current context requires us to consider how to appropriately respond to global and local conditions and policy changes, from the expansion of universal transitional Kindergarten in the state of California to localized ICE raids and threats to immigrant communities. We present an evaluation study design that centers ECE knowledge and expertise and creates mutually beneficial outcomes for broader educational contexts. Short-term and long-term organizational goals are identified in addition to expanded opportunities for educator collaboration and learning.
