Students from rural communities tend to have lower-income families compared to urban students. Completion of post-secondary education offers an opportunity for students to improve their long-term career success. GEAR UP provides tutoring services to students in the Appalachian regions of North Carolina. To examine the impact of GEAR UP tutoring on rural students' post-secondary enrollment, a series of logistic regressions was performed utilizing a data set of 7,479 high school students. The results indicate that students who receive more tutoring minutes are more likely to achieve post-secondary enrollment. Additionally, the results show that while there were no significant differences between direct and virtual tutoring, students who received both modalities of tutoring had a higher likelihood of achieving post-secondary enrollment.
