Abstract

This study explores how Louisiana school superintendents perceive the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. Using a mixed-methods sequential explanatory design, this research surveyed fourteen superintendents and interviewed four to understand their views on AI, its challenges, and its opportunities. The findings reveal that leaders see AI as both a valuable asset and a significant risk. A major concern is the AI literacy gap among educators, which hinders effective and equitable technology integration. This study provides evidence-based insights for educational leaders and highlights the urgent need to reform teacher preparation programs to prepare educators for an AI-integrated future.
