This study aimed to validate a Chinese version of the Tripartite Math Attitudes Scale and explore the relationships among cognitive, affective, and behavioral components of math attitudes in a Chinese adult sample (n = 111). Grounded in control-value theory, the scale assessed gender beliefs, confidence, value, anxiety, enjoyment, boredom, anger, pride, shame, and behavioral intentions. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to refine the scale, removing two items to achieve good model fit. Structural equation modeling revealed significant paths: cognitive attitudes (e.g., confidence, value) predicted affective responses (e.g., enjoyment, anxiety), which in turn influenced behavioral intentions. The validated Chinese TMAS demonstrated robust psychometric properties, offering a culturally adapted tool for future research and interventions targeting math attitudes in Chinese populations.
