Abstract

This systematic literature review investigates how digital learning environments have been designed and implemented to train caregivers of individuals with autism between 2020 and 2025. Drawing on 29 peer-reviewed empirical studies, we identify key instructional strategies, learning technologies, and engagement levels using ICAP framework. Findings reveal emphasis on interactive and constructive strategies, such as telehealth coaching, video modeling, and real-time feedback, delivered through platforms like Zoom, mobile apps, and asynchronous modules. Despite this, most interventions lack grounding in formal instructional design models or adult learning theories. Few studies utilized qualitative research on training experiences. Our review underscores the need for inclusive, theory-informed, and culturally responsive digital caregiver education. We recommend that future research prioritize personalization, stakeholder input, and sustained engagement.
