The Golden Mean: How Zhongyong Thinking Affects College Students' Career Adaptability and the Pathways

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between Zhongyong thinking and career adaptability, with a focus on the mediating roles of openness and learning goal orientation in this process. A total of 418 college students participated in a two-wave investigation. The results indicated that Zhongyong thinking was positively associated with career adaptability. Openness and learning goal orientation respectively played a mediating role in the relationship between Zhongyong thinking and career adaptability. Additionally, openness and learning goal orientation also played a chain mediating role in this relationship. The findings will help us deeply understand the positive function in individuals’ career adaptation and provide guidance for effectively enhancing the career adaptability of college students.
