Abstract

Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is transforming educational environments and influencing school management. Principals must adapt their leadership to address new challenges. This article explores essential leadership components and models for principals. Based on international policies and leadership standards, the research adopts qualitative analysis using grounded theory and utilizes Nvivo 14.0 software for coding. An initial model was developed encompassing 5 capability dimensions: GenAI education cognition, planning, environment construction, teacher growth through GenAI, and student development through GenAI, along with 12 indicators. A survey of 2,891 principals was conducted to develop an assessment tool. The study identifies key leadership elements for principals in the GenAI Era, addressing gaps in training and providing a clear pathway for improvement.
