Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between university innovation climate and graduate research behavior in the Chinese context, based on survey data from 612 postgraduate students. The results indicate a significant positive association between university innovation climate and research behavior, with creative self-efficacy and achievement motivation acting as mediators. Notably, the two mediators function in a sequential chain, further elucidating the mechanism through which innovation climate influences research behavior. Among the components of the university innovation climate, resource availability and learning autonomy exerted the strongest effects. In contrast, mentor support and university philosophy demonstrated more pronounced influences within Double First-Class universities and science and engineering disciplines.
