This conceptual paper presents Sharjah Education Academy’s (SEA) innovative and intentional framework for teacher education. Responding to the call to unforget histories and imagine futures, SEA’s model cultivates educational and cultural roots. Through design-based research, andragogical approaches and improvement science, teacher and leader candidates are empowered. Hybrid, competency-based and capacity-upskilling programs prepare them. Visible cutting-edge technologies, equitable access, mentorship and dual-language learning address inequities and support a diverse community of educators from regions marked by war and conflict, including Sudan, Palestine, Syria and Iraq. Intentionally centering intersections of race, culture, and education this paper presents a promising approach for sustainable teacher education that promotes inclusion, belonging, diversity, equity and justice for collective liberation, offering a replicable model for reimagining the field.
