Micromomental Mindset towards Anticolonial Intentionality

Wed, April 8, 1:45 to 3:15pm PDT (1:45 to 3:15pm PDT), Los Angeles Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Poster Hall - Exhibit Hall A

Abstract

Drawing on multicultural psychology and Eastern wisdom traditions, this paper theorizes moment-to-moment or a micromomental stance towards cultivating awareness in our perpetual endeavours, specifically within a MSc Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and applied linguistics programme in the UK. We explore how mindfulness in the “here and now” can nurture anti-colonial hope and cultivate what we are calling anti-colonial intentionality within the space/context of doing English language teacher education programmes.
