Abstract

In our study, we three participants, now in our 70s, aimed to provide an insider perspective on the contested public education arena within a democracy. Our goal was to reflect on our experiences as Māori students and the complexities and challenges we faced under the Māori Education Act. This journey was not just academic; it became a deeply personal and emotional exploration of how education has shaped our identities as Indigenous individuals.
