This study aims to explore how near-peer teaching support multimodal assessments in higher education. Through qualitative analysis of near-peers’, i.e., peer consultants’ activities within the Visual and Digital Resources program at a Hong Kong university, findings reveal that peer consultants effectively adapt support to diverse student needs, fostering motivation and autonomy. The study highlights significant personal, academic, and professional benefits for tutors, reinforcing the dual role of peer consultants as both educational support and a valuable experiential learning opportunity. These insights contribute to understanding the effectiveness of near-peer teaching in addressing complex literacy demands.
