In this study, we used exploratory factor analysis (EFA) to identify the number of underlying constructs (factors) of the active learning classroom (ALC) usage survey we adapted to capture the frequency of different events happening in ALCs. Based on the findings of various tests done for determining the number of factors and the exploratory analysis (EFA) using data from 302 college students, we identified a two-factor structure. The first factor focuses more on the interaction aspect in the active learning spaces, emphasizing student collaboration and engagement between an instructor and students, while the second factor explores how to build connections through technology, highlighting how ALCs facilitate knowledge sharing and community-building via technological tools.
