Abstract

This study investigated how teachers' growth mindset influences teaching satisfaction, mediated by person-organization fit (P-O fit), among 1,050 Shanghai university faculty, results reveal that growth mindset significantly and positively predicts teaching satisfaction, both directly and indirectly through person-organization fit. Moderation analyses revealed that gender did not significantly affect the model. However, the positive link between growth mindset and teaching satisfaction was weaker among faculty aged 56 and above, and marginally stronger in humanities and social sciences than in STEM fields. This research offers vital theoretical and practical insights, highlighting the imperative of cultivating a growth mindset and optimizing person-organization fit for promoting teacher well-being, fostering retention, and ultimately improving university quality.
