The Pernicious Whiteness of Coloniality: Genealogizing to Locate the “Nowhere” of Global Curricula

Sat, April 11, 3:45 to 5:15pm PDT (3:45 to 5:15pm PDT), Los Angeles Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Room 304A

Abstract

Our overall purpose, via genealogical method, is to reveal, debilitate, and create anti-imperialist alternatives to the always-partial-and-tenuous-yet-existing coloniality in global curricula. Through itinerant and hybridized framings drawing on US-based critical curriculum theories and Latin American decolonial perspectives, our genealogy narrates the specific curriculum ascent of the nowhere of an ontologizing global curriculum. Genealogy provides a method through which we narrativize the specific material relations between the rise of the US South in presidential politics translated into curriculum policies that were subsequently refined, exported, and specifically territorialized presently via PISA scores and now international data bases on student “achievement”.
