Climate change denial is a gendered phenomenon. Given shifting economic structures and cultural norms in the context of a warming climate, we investigate what kinds of educational programs are necessary for engaging young men in climate justice work. We present a review of the germane sociological and educational literatures to examine the contextual differences and shared transnational phenomena that produce gendered and politically salient engagements with climate change. We then utilize a geographic cross-case analysis of contextual educational practices to develop points of both commonality and difference. In each case we detail the shifting nature of male gender norms vis-a-vis climate change education, with a focus on developing climate justice education programs that engage young men and boys.
