Spirituality Scholarship in Adult Education and Human Resource Development, 2000-2025: A Literature Review

Abstract

Our paper presents an analysis of 25 years of spirituality-focused articles published in adult education (AE) and human resource development (HRD) journals. Specifically, this review asks what theoretical framings and practices related to spirituality have accompanied attempts to understand and facilitate adult learning in a variety of contexts, including the workplace. We map the history of this recent scholarly engagement with spirituality across these fields to imagine vibrant possibilities for future research on spirituality across diverse adult education and human resource development contexts.
