Thu, April 9, 4:15 to 5:45pm PDT (4:15 to 5:45pm PDT), Los Angeles Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Poster Hall - Exhibit Hall A

Abstract

Whiteness is intricately embedded in education and the silence in acknowledging it is deafening. The system of education resides in whiteness and that includes higher education. This study of five teacher educators in New York State higher education institutions, explores how they deconstruct whiteness in their teacher education courses and the constraints and supports within their institutions conducting their work as they navigate the layers of whiteness from policies and colleagues.
