Abstract

The external network resources of family, school, and community can be essential to children's educational attainment, even when they were not directly involved in those networks. Based on Bourdieu's social capital theory and Bronfenbrenner's bioecological system theory, this research constructed an analytical framework and used Structural Equation Modeling to investigate the impact mechanism. Data were collected from 1476 families. Results showed that the network resources of family, school, and community had a positive effect on children's academic achievement. Family-community partnership and family-school partnership had a serial mediating effect on the relationship between the external network resources and academic achievement.
