Abstract

This research introduces an Action-Oriented Pedagogies (AOPs) for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Educator Toolkit that ulitize qualitative insights from 27 Regional Centres of Expertise (RCEs) (authors, in press). The toolkit provides educators with a practical framework to design community-based, transformative learning experiences. Seven essential components form the foundation: Problem-Based Real-world Issues, Community Engagement, Learner Participation, Empathy, Regional and Cultural Relevance, Interdisciplinarity, and Collaboration. This toolkit emphasizes active learner participation and community engagement to foster empathy and effective sustainability actions. Accompanying templates, idea cards, and checklists ensure practical applicability. This research significantly contributes to scholarly and practical understanding by bridging theory with educator practice, promoting meaningful climate actions through comprehensive, action-oriented educational approaches.
