Thu, April 9, 7:45 to 9:15am PDT (7:45 to 9:15am PDT), Los Angeles Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Poster Hall - Exhibit Hall A

Abstract

This study examined the association between social class discrimination and cannabis use among Latine adolescents. Social class discrimination refers to the interpersonal bias that individuals experience due to being disadvantaged in social class. Adolescents may experience social class discrimination from multiple sources, including teachers, classmates, other teenagers, friends, and community members. Cross-sectional data were collected from 705 Latine adolescents (Mage = 16.35, SDage = 1.16) from two public high schools. Logistic regression analyses revealed that social class discrimination from teachers was positively associated with cannabis use. No other associations were observed. Implications for school interventions will be discussed.
