Can Generative AI influence creativity? A Meta-Analysis

Abstract

This meta-analysis investigated whether and how Generative AI influences students’ creativity by analyzing 12 experimental studies. Findings suggest the studies using self-report tools to assess creativity show a statistically significant and moderately strong effect. Future research should emphasize comprehensive reporting, consistent effect size calculation, and investigation of how AI interacts with individual and contextual factors to enhance creativity across domains.
