This session explores the potential of manifesto-making as a transformative, just-oriented research and pedagogical approach. We present two intertwined strands: 1) the Manifesto for Decarbonizing Scholarship and Research, a living document co-authored by faculty and students to challenge extractive, carbon-intensive academic norms; and 2) a companion study, The Pedagogy of Manifesto-Making , which uses collective biography to examine the relational, ethical, and institutional tensions that surfaced in the writing process. This session offers an invitation to engage with the Manifesto as a dynamic tool for rethinking academic practices. Through facilitated dialogue, participants will reflect on their own practices and institutional contexts as they co-develop pathways for applying, adapting, and expanding the Manifestos’ principles toward more just and sustainable forms of scholarship.
