Abstract

Sixty-six percent of all Latinx undergraduate students are enrolled in Hispanic-serving institutions (HSIs), which established in 1992, are degree-granting institutions that enroll a minimum of 25% Latinx undergraduate students. Although a growing body of scholarship broadly conceptualizes indicators and structures of servingness, place-based and embodied dispositions are missing. Based on qualitative interviews with 14 students and 22 faculty, findings offer a place-based portrayal of servingness as embodied ethos at a fronterizx HSI.
