Abstract

This systematic literature review examines articles across global contexts that shed light on the roles schools play in climate change adaptation. An iterative search process resulted in 86 publications analyzed in this review. The findings revealed that schools play a role in climate change adaptation through (1) physical infrastructure; (2) pedagogical practices; (3) community outreach; and (4) as disaster relief centers. This review illuminates how the existing literature conceptualizes the role of schools in climate change adaptation, what can be learned from these studies, and future directions for centering schools in community climate change adaptation.
