Abstract

This study explores the dynamics and actors of the system resilience, focusing on the case of the school that hosted refugee students in Turkiye. It investigates the experience of educators and parents during the COVID-19 pandemic. This instrumental single case study in the qualitative realm aims at understanding how the school self-organized during this turbulent period. This research focused on local adaptation processes and was conducted through interviews with a sample of educators and parents. Data was analyzed based on the three aspects of social-ecological resilience. Results show teachers actively led school adaptation by fostering communication among staff and parents and across organizational levels; they also bridged the policy-practice gap amid emerging challenges. The pandemic exposed economic injustices more visibly.
