Doctoral Student Support Networks: Acknowledging Community

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the communities that support doctoral students in their academic journeys. Using social network analysis and document analysis, we explore graduate student support networks, their members, and how they vary across academic disciplines through the lens of graduate student socialization. The findings of this project will aid faculty advisors and administrators in facilitating successful pathways for students across the stages of doctoral education, while leaning into their communities of support.
