Abstract

This study investigates the prevalence and impact of racial microaggressions experienced by Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Students of Color at a university that publicly embraces “inclusive excellence.” Using qualitative methods, the research explores how academic rank, professional role, and spatial dynamics shape racialized encounters across campus. Participants describe daily experiences of exclusion, surveillance, and marginalization that undermine their well-being, professional advancement, and sense of belonging. The findings expose the gap between institutional rhetoric and lived realities, emphasizing the need for systemic change.
