Abstract

As teachers face new global and local challenges in the classroom, and as students of Color with dis/Abilities are being prepared for a rapidly developing future, teacher educators must transform their programs to better prepare all teachers for transformative learning and systems change related to race and dis/Ability in education. We elicit current literature on how dis/Ability and race are theorized and practiced within teacher education programs, animating a Praxis Pedagogy grounded in Transformational Learning and Global DisCrit. This work is critical to address the contexts that teachers and students navigate in a diverse world. Teacher educators must ensure that they address these discourses and advocate for systems change for each student in their programs.
