Abstract

Social networks play a critical role in teachers’ professional lives, providing opportunities for mutual support and shared learning. This study examines the influence of a targeted regional conference on the professional networks of pre-service and in-service STEM teachers. Data were gathered from 268 participants using a social network analysis survey administered at three points: several weeks before the conference, one week after, and 10 months later, across three consecutive years (2023–2025). Findings reveal notable shifts in teachers’ networks, including changes in network size, bridging roles, and interconnectedness; however, these effects tend to diminish over time. Developing intentional strategies to maintain and strengthen teacher interactions with new professional contacts following the conference may help sustain these valuable connections.
