Learning Through Place: A Map of Lipan (Ndé) Presence and Movement Across Texas

Abstract

This paper presents an ongoing place-based education project mapping Lipan Apache presence and movement across Texas. The digital map serves as a timeline of sorts, reflecting spaces and places inhabited throughout time. Grounded in Indigenous education and pedagogy of place, the work highlights how learning continues through land, story, and tradition. This presentation offers educators and researchers a model for community-defined learning that moves beyond formal classrooms and centers Indigenous presence.
