Sat, April 11, 9:45 to 11:15am PDT (9:45 to 11:15am PDT), Westin Bonaventure, Floor: Lobby Level, La Brea

Abstract

Black women continue to navigate complex workplace landscapes shaped by intersecting barriers of race and gender. This qualitative study explores how humanized workplace learning experiences—rooted in Black Feminist Thought and Endarkened Feminist Epistemology—can support career advocacy and leadership development for Black women in corporate settings. Through a four-week series of facilitated learning sessions, reflective journaling, focus groups, and follow-up interviews, participants engage in counterspaces that center their lived experiences, illuminate systemic inequities, and co-create strategies for thriving. Preliminary findings highlight the transformative potential of culturally responsive leadership development models that honor Black women’s voices. This study contributes to scholarship on equitable workplace learning and offers actionable insights for designing organizational practices that advance leadership pathways and reimagine inclusive futures.
