This case study explores how an immigrant adult engages with ChatGPT to understand the role of AI in supporting adult literacy, identity, and cultural expression. Through dialogue and creative writing, the participant demonstrates how AI can serve as a reflective partner, facilitating deeper critical engagement and self-exploration. The findings highlight both the potential and limitations of generative AI in fostering culturally responsive literacy practices. This research underscores the importance of developing critical digital literacies and illustrates how AI can be integrated into adult education to support diverse learners’ journey of “unforgetting” histories while imagining equitable futures, aligning with contemporary shifts in education research and policy.
