Abstract

This study focuses on a digital game-based, personalized math program that is designed to support young learners in building a strong understanding of fundamental number sense and operations, PROGRAM (name blinded). We report on a cluster randomized controlled trial including 1,016 students testing the efficacy of PROGRAM in supporting young children’s math learning. PROGRAM is a supplemental, personalized, mastery-based learning ecosystem that uses story contexts to engage children in game-based math learning and is aligned to the Common Core State Standards in Mathematics. The presentation discusses PROGRAM’s impact on math learning and examines the implications of technology-based learning programs for early math skill development.
