The rapid adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) has led to significant changes across all sectors. Yet, our educational systems are ill equipped to teach students about AI, develop comprehensive use policies, and ensure the safety of their students. With the increasing demand for the design, development, and deployment of AI innovations, major educational transformations are required to ensure students can develop and use AI in a responsible manner. To this end, the educator workforce must be prepared. To contribute to the dialogue on AI education, this study examines national data from 2,882 teachers to explore their perceptions of AI in the classroom, how equipped they are to integrate AI responsibly, and the supports needed for classroom implementation.
