Then and Now and Then: (Re/De)compos(t)ing Produces New Inquiries

Wed, April 8, 1:45 to 3:15pm PDT (1:45 to 3:15pm PDT), JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE, Floor: Ground Floor, Gold 2

Abstract

In 2020, the authors published a book together, investigating what ‘inquiry’ is, how it’s taught, and if it is even possible to teach using concepts from various post-theories. Now, we (re)turned and (re)read portions of our book and noted elements that (“newly”) caught our attention, thinking/writing-with Deleuze and Guattari’s (1980/1987) two notions of time: Chronos and Aeon, compost, and response-ability (Haraway, 2016). Engaging an art-full approach of ‘playing with’ post- philosophical concepts, language, and sections of the book—e.g., (re/de)compos(t)ing, we encounter dirt and moving with/in and among multiples. We end with inviting others and ourselves to consider ways to (re/de)compos(t/e) collectively to ‘imagine new futures.’
