Abstract

This qualitative study explores how intersectional identity and organizational culture shape the experiences of staff members working in a community-based organization that supports multilingual learners. The study analyzes interviews, surveys, and organizational documents to examine how race, language, gender, and professional identity intersect within the context of a mission-driven nonprofit. Findings reveal how organizational values and practices both support and challenge staff as they navigate diverse identities and commitments to equity. The analysis is grounded in Intersectionality Theory and Schein’s Organizational Culture Theory, contributing new insights into the ways educational organizations mediate identity, belonging, and professional practice for those serving multilingual learners.
