This pilot case study explores how black elementary students from underrepresented groups engage with generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools in STEM learning environments. While AI is becoming increasingly prevalent in schools, the experiences of black young students, particularly from underrepresented backgrounds, use these technologies remain underexplored. This study uses a mixed-methods case study design involving ten elementary school students from a southern state. Data collection includes student artifacts, surveys, and video recordings to identify patterns in how students interact with AI applications. In this session, the presenter will share the study in progress, offer insights into technology use in STEM education, and facilitate a discussion with attendees on how to implement AI in a way that is inclusive to all students
